Religious School closing session May 1

The Temple Shir Shalom Religious School finished up it's very successful 2010-11 academic year with a morning of celebration on Sunday, May 1. There were two primary themes for the year, according to principal Debbie Boada. One was to look closely at the customs and life styles of Jewish communities around the world. To this end, students enjoyed guest presentations about Jewish life in Latvia, Morocco, Venezuela, and Crete. The other main goal was to continue the school's improving record of teaching Hebrew language and appreciation to it's students. Students spent a full hour each session learning Hebrew in their classrooms, under the program supervision of Debbie Joseph, and about 45 minutes each session in an innovative program called "Hebrew Happens," which focused on comprehension and appreciation of the basic Jewish vocabulary of prayer. The 2011-12 school year for Temple Shir Shalom will begin on Sunday, September 11. Please call the Temple office for information.
