Help Us Feed Thousands—Together

In the spirit of the High Holy Days, we reflect on renewal, compassion, and our responsibility to care for one another. Years ago, many of us felt the power of tzedakah by bringing canned goods to temple. It was tangible, heartfelt—and yet, not the most effective way to help.

Since 2020, Temple Shir Shalom has partnered with Bread of the Mighty Food Bank through direct donations. Thanks to your incredible generosity, we’ve raised over $3,000 each year—providing more than 18,000 meals annually to people in Alachua and surrounding counties. That’s food for children, seniors, and families who otherwise might go hungry…your neighbors.

This year, let’s do even more.

You can make your High Holy Day donation now in any of the following ways:

·       Online: click "Donate," and write “Food Drive” in the intent box.

·       By Check: Payable to “Temple Shir Shalom” with “Food Drive” in the memo line.

·       By Phone: Call the Temple office at (352) 371-6399 and let Gracie know it’s for the food drive.

All donations are presented to Bread of the Mighty after Yom Kippur.

With the federal defunding of programs such as food stamps the need for donations is stronger than ever.

Thank you for being a blessing.

With gratitude,

Sharon and Andy Hirshik
