Please save the date of Sunday, June 5, 2016 for the Sisterhood Annual Meeting where it will elect its new Board. The Sisterhood Board has several open positions. If you would like to help guide the direction of the Temple’s Sisterhood and insure its continuance, please contact Marcia Storch at storchmarcia1965@gmail.com.
Our Sisterhood is facing vital questions this year. Will Sisterhood survive at Temple Shir Shalom? All Sisterhood members should attend the Annual Sisterhood Meeting on Sunday, June 5, 2016, to answer that important question. A potluck dinner will begin at 5:00 pm, with the business meeting at 6:00 pm.
Dear Friends,
Eleven years ago, a group of Temple Shir Shalom women decided that our congregation needed a unified organization to support and nurture it, and our Sisterhood was born. Sisterhood‘s activities have benefited the Temple in many ways, just as Sisterhood has nurtured many friendships. Over the years, funds raised by Sisterhood have:
*beautified the sanctuary and social hall, including the recently installed carpet and fresh paint
*purchased the small sound system that Rabbi Joseph uses almost every Shabbat
*purchased picnic tables for our beautiful back yard
*supplied the kitchen with needed items
*presented mezuzahs to graduating high school seniors
*presented Kiddush cup or Shabbat candleholders to b’nai mitzvah students
Now, however, our Sisterhood is struggling to survive. Sisterhood needs the help of all of our Temple women, not just to stay the same, but to “re-invent” itself. Several of our long-time leaders need to step away after all these years, giving us an opportunity to start fresh. Please support our new Sisterhood with your membership, with your energy, with your creativity, and maybe even with your leadership skills. Please call the Temple office and request a Sisterhood membership form to get started.
Together, we can keep Sisterhood alive, and make it better than ever. Our Annual Meeting is June 5 at a potluck dinner and meeting that begins at 6:00 pm. Please try to attend and bring your suggestions. If you are unable to attend, send us your suggestions. You might have the ideas we need!
Sincerely,
Temple Shir Shalom Sisterhood Board
